Portumna Base
Portumna, situated at the northern end of Lough Derg, where visiting boats can drop anchor and moor in safety at the marina in Portumna Bay.
It is also a cruiser base and the town itself is just a few minutes walk away. There are many points of interest in the town that are well worth making a visit into town to see.

Transfers and Groceries
The base can arrange transfers from your arrival point to the base and can also do your food and drink shopping to stock up your boat before you arrive. A link to the order forms will be sent following your final payment for the boating holiday.

Bank Holidays 10:00 to 13:00, 15:00 to 17:00
Late Arrivals
If you are going to be arriving at the base late, you will need to inform the base directly or the general sales office where you booked. When you arrive at the base there will be a note on the reception door informing you where your boat is. The boat will be left open with the lights on for you to stay on board that night. The base staff will do the full briefing the following morning.

A fishing licence is required and this can be purchased on arrival at the base from the reception. Cost is approximately €7 for 1 week.

By Road:
From Dublin airport: Follow signs for Dublin city Centre and take the exit for M50 southbound. This is a toll road (cars cost €1.30). Take the N7 for Naas and on to Kildare town. Take the R420 to Tullamore. Take the N52 to Birr. Then take the R489 to Portumna. Road Distance approximately 110 miles (170 Kms) 3 hours.
From Shannon Airport: Take the N18 to Limerick. Take the N7 to Nenagh. Take the N52 to Borrisokane and the N65 to Portumna. Road Distance approximately 50 miles (70kms) 1 1/2 hours.
From Dun Laoghaire and North Wall Ferry Ports - Dublin: Follow signs for M50 Southbound. Take the N7 for Naas and on to Kildare town. Take the R420 to Tullamore. Then take the N52 to Birr. Take the R489 to Portumna. Road Distance approximately 110 miles (3 hours).
From Rosslare Port: Take the N25 to New Ross. Take the N10 to Kilkenny. Take the main road to Roscrea. Take the N62 to Birr and then the R489 to Portumna. Road Distance approximately 110 miles (190 kms) 4 hours.
